Privacy policy

HaloStop is software that school transportation companies use to run their routes, staff and vehicles. This policy explains what information the HaloStop website and apps handle, why, and the choices you have.

Each transportation company that uses HaloStop (“your company”) decides what information it enters and who can see it. For that information, HaloStop acts as a service provider to your company. Questions about a specific child’s or employee’s records should go to the company first; we will help them answer.

Information we handle

How it is used

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. Student information is used only to provide transportation services to the company and school that supplied it.

Who it is shared with

Children

HaloStop is not directed to children and children do not create accounts. Student information is provided by transportation companies and schools for the purpose of transporting those students. Parents and guardians can ask the transportation company to review, correct or delete their child’s information.

Retention and deletion

Your company controls how long its records are kept. Some records, such as payroll and tax records and inspection logs, must be kept for periods set by law. Location history is kept as long as your company needs it for its records.

You can delete your account from the app: open Account, then Delete account. Parent accounts are deleted right away. For employees, the request goes to the employer, which removes your login and keeps only the records it is legally required to keep.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Each company’s data is kept separate from every other company’s. Passwords and PINs are stored as one-way hashes, and Social Security numbers are encrypted at rest.
